Charlie loves Seaview Park!
|
It used to be one of the only two (2) LEGAL off leash parks in the whole of the Halifax Regional Municipality until the recent implementation of the pilot off-leash 5 new parks spread through municipality (see my main local park page for more info on that). By times we've spent a LOT of time at Seaview Park - for a while after Hurricane Juan it was the only legal offleash park anywhere because Point Pleasant Park was closed. Back then Seaview was a VERY busy place!
I will give you some links to other web sites that give tips for dog parks that are like Seaview and what proper etiquette is for these types of places.
There's a super website for a dog park in Waterloo Ontario
for a place called Dogerloo and they had these fabulous guidelines for
their "leash free park" that were just super and are were a MUST READ
that included things like - "don't carry your small dog around because
big dogs consider that like carrying around bait - keep small dogs on
the ground where they belong." I LOVED that, because it's true.
Unfortunately the group doesn't exist anymore, but I was able to grab
their guidelines before their website disappeared. Here's a pdf file of
their super tips:

I've made a pamphlet that in the past I put copies of at the entrance to Seaview park because I thought the information was so important. It's text from the Goodpooch.com website with pictures of the dogs of Seaview park. I believe Halifax dog culture has a serious problem with dogs playing together and how they should act, and I was tired of it. The text and pictures from the pamphlet are posted on my blog at http://dogkisser.blogspot.com/2004/06/pamphlet-i-made-for-seaview-park.html

Charlie loves Halifax has been on the internet since May of 2002 and has had over 1,000,000 hits from local dog lovers since then. It is a site maintained completely and solely by one (1) person and her dogs completely and utterly for her own pleasure and her personal beliefs about how she would like the Halifax Regional Municipality to become more dog friendly, and what she believes to be a lovely view of what the world is, and how what it can become. If you agree with her view of this dog-centric world - that is super-fant-abulous. If you don't - that is too bad, but that is your opinion - just as everything on this website is - the opinion and beliefs of one person. If you believe them to be anything more than that - you have been mis-informed and have given me an importance anyone would lust after, but I certainly do not covet. Thanks for reading....
