Here is something that's REALLY neat!  A tall ship boat tour that's dog friendly! It's the tall ship Silva and they do boat tours of Halifax Harbour in the summer time and you can take your dog with you.  I'm so happy that services like this are starting to realize that it's okay to have our canine life companions with us when we go to stuff like this - mostly because the owners have dogs themselves and they realize it's no big deal - but isn't that super?  So when you have friends in town this summer and you won't to show them our beautiful city - make sure you take them on the tall ship Silva!  Go visit their website at http://www.tallshipsilva.com/  

Pet Memorial Stones - this is something that's neat and new - from "Red Isle Artisans" - they're located in PEI and they say they pick rocks from around the Maritimes and engrave them as memorial stones for your pets grave or to place around your home as a memorial for your pets that have "passed on" - I think it's a really neat idea and the photos on their site look really beautiful.  Their website is at http://www.redisleartisans.ca/   

Custom made dog tables - made by "Fine Dine your Canine" - this is a neat idea that is made by a lady who will personalize the raised dining bowls for your dog!  I met her at a HKC show and the dog tables are really well made and will last a lifetime - and are really good for your dog - so everyone wins!  Their website is at http://finedineyourcanine.com/

At the same dog show was a local artist who is really good - her name is Arlene Collins - and she lives up by Parrsboro - you can see her art work on her website - and she'll do paintings of your companion animal that will blow you away - she's awesome - her website is at http://arlenecollins.com/

Local On-line Store for Just about EveryThing Dog Related - "Your Pup's Place" - Another section of the "Mountain Dog Lodge Website" - Suzanne sells as well as makes a ton of different items.  Everything from dog beds, collars, leashes, bandanas, dog coats, to pet sunscreen, hemp oil for your pet, as well as items that aren't available anywhere else - like colloidal silver for your pet (which I'm told is VERY GOOD for everyone!).  She also sells various homeopathic remedies and something that she must sell a lot of because it makes her own dogs almost glow in the dark they're so shiny, it's this liquid called "Velcote" - and it makes your dogs coat shiny.  And it really does work.  But best of all she is a SUPER seamstress - so check out her apparel section - she makes great clothes!  And she takes credit cards now - so join her mailing list to stay updated!  

Another local on-line store to buy dog-related items is the "Hounds Around Town On-Line Doggy Boutique".  It's part of the above Hounds Around Town Website .  Angela is a very busy woman!  The Hounds Around Town Doggy Boutique Sells Items that you can't get locally elsewhere - like "Neopaws Booties" - but she also sells locally made dog beds, and harnesses and leashes.  She also sells a few cat items to even out the balance of things!  All items are made in Canada and Angela is always adding new products so she suggests you check her site frequently!   Local on-line stores seem to be becoming popular! 

Local Pet Detective - can you imagine that we have this resource available to us locally?  We have a dog locally who is specially trained to find lost pets - cats AND dogs!  The company is called "PetDetective.ca" and the lady who owns the company is a certified "missing animal response technician".  To find out more about what they can do - and they also have tips on what you should do when you lose your pet - go to http://www.petdetective.ca/
